Mama Gaia's Advocates Extended Breastfeeding
Mama Gaia's knows that the American Academy of Pediatrics
suggests breastfeeding all children at least until they are one year old, and even later as long as it is mutually desirable.
Mama Gaia's believes nursing for two years is an attainable goal for most women. After the first year, most babies are
far more interested in new foods and they give up nursing during the daytime. Those bedtime feedings are a wonderful source
of comfort and nutrition though, and are consequently viewed by Mama Gaia's as very important. New press releases just
announced that breastmilk also includes stemcells! Previously, we thought a baby got their last stem cells from their cord
blood. The health benefits of this will prove to be far reaching.
Mama Gaia's also advocates nursing in public.
We feel there is nothing wrong with feeding our babies the way we were intended to. We also realize though that many women
maynot be completely comfortable with this practice, and so we carry beautiful nursing covers. We aren't telling anyone
to cover up, just trying to make nursing easier for the women who would like a little more privacy!
